On Tuesday 15 October KAN ran its autumn meet-up day at Sevenoaks School.
After some breakfast pastries and fruit platters, morning activities entailed workshops on mental health, Law, a practical Physics lesson, sessions about post-18 and post-16 options delivered by Pathway CTM and a Q&A with the mentors.
The students really enjoyed their lunch in the Dining Hall and could choose from a variety of sessions again in the afternoon. We covered practical presentation skills, practical study skills, Psychology taster workshops and a Year 13 personal statements support session.
During the day, we also recognised the commitment of certain KAN students with certificates of commendation.
A huge thank you needs to go to all the incredible contributors, but also the KAN school-leads and the mentors who are the backbone of KAN. We had excellent attendance and student feedback was very positive overall:
‘I enjoyed the mental health session as it covered important subjects that more people need to be made aware of.’
‘the Psychology session was really interesting, I’ve never done anything with Psychology before.’
‘the practical study skills session gave me lots of coping mechanisms for how to deal with stress.’
‘the law session was really interesting as the Mentor delivering the session showed a passion for the subject.’
