Sevenoaks Symphony Orchestra presents their spring concert with music by the premiere composers of Denmark and Finland. This Nordic/Russian programme’s opener is Carl Nielsen’s Helios overture, depicting the sun’s passage across the sky from dawn until dusk. Sibelius’s lilting Valse Triste and his Fifth Symphony, with its magnificent swans-in-flight inspired finale come after the interval and the centrepiece is Rachmaninov’s much-loved Second Piano Concerto. The orchestra welcomes the return of Christos Fountos, after his two previous wonderfully entertaining performances.
