Our first ever Disability and Neurodiversity Awareness Week ends today. This new venture was led by students from the EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Action committee and the Diverse Abilities EDI working group, supported by students and staff across the school.

Activities included sport, music and science sessions to which we welcomed students from Valence School and Five Acre Wood School, and children from other local schools. We have hosted lectures and workshops from inspiring guest speakers including Paralympians Will Bayley and Claire Danson. There have also been movie nights and bake sales in support of the IREDE Foundation.

One of the highlights of the week was listening to students and staff talking about their disabilities and neurodiverse conditions during assemblies. This opens up conversations and helps us become an even more inclusive community.

Thank you to all students involved for your thoughtful, dedicated and mature participation in this week, and to all staff involved in the resources, events and activities.
