what universities say

The IB Diploma is a tried and tested route to securing offers to study at highly competitive UK universities whilst also opening up routes to study globally. The mix of academic rigour, opportunities to develop skills in research, critical analysis, and project-based learning, as well as the wider value offered by the Creativity Action and Service component prepare students very effectively for the transition to university-level study.

Mike Nicholson

Director of Recruitment, Admissions and Participation, University of Cambridge

The IB Diploma is well understood and highly regarded within UK higher education. Its breadth, academic rigour, and emphasis on independent inquiry provide excellent preparation for university level study.

Ivar Møller

Deputy Director of Admissions, University of St Andrews

UEA recognises the International Baccalaureate Diploma as an outstanding preparation for university study. IB students bring strong independent learning skills, intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, and are particularly well prepared for demanding courses such as Medicine and Engineering.

Alix Delany

Associate Director, Admissions and Applicant Engagement University of East Anglia

We highly value the balance of breadth and depth the Diploma offers and find that the challenges of completing it are excellent preparation for the demands of higher education. IB students have been introduced to higher order thinking skills as well as learning resilience and significant time management.

Associate Director (Student Access, Recruitment & Admissions) University of Exeter

Being part of something big starts with something small

Sevenoaks is a large institution and it has sizeable ambitions to match, but the focus is on every individual student, who will find and develop their talents, areas of enthusiasm and interests as part of small, familiar units. A student’s pastoral care is driven by their tutor; at Sevenoaks every day begins with tutor time and the familiar and friendly faces of a small tutor group.

Our Pastoral care system

Bursaries

Sevenoaks actively welcomes applications for means-tested bursaries to help families who can’t meet the full fees. Awards are tailored to individual circumstances with a clear application and assessment process.

A Sevenoaks Bursary
quote-mark

I have really enjoyed my time at Sevenoaks and will cherish it for years to come. It is rightly named a transformational bursary as it has exposed me to an entirely new environment, that I thought only existed on television, and has allowed me to flourish.
